There’s a never ending debate that goes on with putting websites in flash. We get what the big deal about flash is. It admittedly looks impressive. This was why we wanted flash for our own website, and we consulted our DWD web designer about it. We were kind of surprised when our web designer talked us out of laying our site out in flash. Why, we argued, flash looks fancy, it gets a reaction, it is interactive, and you don’t even have to worry about cross browser compatibility. To add to that, animation (through flash) is a great and easy way to get any message across, and is bound to amuse the audience too. What was so wrong with flash? Our web designer sat down and told us these points. Now, we kinda see why flash isn’t a good idea. Hopefully, by showing this to you, you rethink your flash strategy too!
1. Costly can provide your clients one more step- To fill up costly properly; you'll certainly need a proper costly player that's appropriate for your costly presentation. After which it what continues for the audience that doesn't have it? A prompt can look asking these to download it. Meaning it'll be more hours consuming inside your audience, along with the download occupies space within the computer. Lots of people wouldn't even bother and basically click out of your site.
2. Flash presents problems with site optimization- Here’s the thing, most search engines are not able to index content that is rendered in flash. If you don’t care about rankings, then this would not be a problem. However, we think you do care about ranking, because users will usually click on the first few sites that pop up in their search. If you don’t rank, how will users be able to find you?
3. A longer loading time- flash takes longer to load than your ordinary website. Some users may not be able to wait. Then, they will opt to look somewhere else, which will suck for you.
Consider your choice to take advantage of costly carefully. May possibly not be useful ultimately, and you will you need to be sorry. In the event you request us, stick with the conventional format. It's simpler, and computes better!
